With the theme, “Wikang Filipino, Wikang Mapagbago,” Kalayaan National High School officially launched the annual National Language Month through an opening program on August 1, 2017 facilitated by the Filipino Department, at the KNHS Quadrangle attended by teachers and grade 8 and 10 student.
After the conduct of the morning routine, Samahan ng mga Aktibong Mag-aaral sa Filipino (SAMAF), with its president, Yari Nicole Casalta, and adviser, Mrs. Adelfa Prado on their national costume, presented the events and contests that will be conducted for the month-long celebration. The program was conducted to encourage KNHSians to love and use the Filipino language.
Trained by Mr. Edwardo Benlota, Grade 9- Diamond, showcased their speaking and theatre abilities through a choral reading inspired by the works of Pat. V. Villafurete, Kultura. The Filipino teachers were also present in the said ceremony. “It was really inspiring and eye-opening. Now I know most of the students of KNHS feel the real essence of our language – Filipino,” said Sharina Sacares from 9-Aquamarine who was present in the program.
