Alternative Learning System

The Alternative Learning System (ALS) is a parallel learning system of the Department of Education (DepEd) that provides a practical and flexible option for learners who are unable to attend formal schooling. ALS offers opportunities for out-of-school youth, adults, working individuals, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and other marginalized sectors to complete their basic education and develop lifelong learning skills.

Through ALS, learners receive quality education using flexible learning modalities designed to fit their circumstances, schedules, and learning needs. Successful completers may continue their education, pursue employment opportunities, or engage in livelihood and skills development programs.
