KNHS Joins National Reading Month Division Contests; Major Awards Received

Kalayaan National High School learner representatives received major awards in the Division English Festival of Talents 2023 held on 24th of November with the theme “Beyond Boundaries: Celebrating Emerging Talents in Literacies” and in the 2023 Division Reading Proficiency Contest with the theme “Pagbasa: Pag-asa sa Matatag na Kinabukasan” on 17th of November, in celebration of the National Reading Month. The contest was participated in by different schools in all clusters in the Division of Pasay City.

In the Division Festival of Talents, Adianez G. Amante (Grade 12-Newton) nailed the 1st Place in the Impromptu Speech Contest while Marky Edrian B. Abonita (Grade 12-Disraeli) garnered the 2nd place for the Photo Essay. The Reader’s Theatre entry of Grade 8 won 2nd place, Mark Gerard C. Osit, (Grade 10-Abad Santos) got the 2nd place in Poster Making category while Tracy Mc Andre C. Daplin ranked 3rd place in the Oratorical Contest.

Results of the Reading Proficiency Contests in each grade level category show: Sheena Mae Manumbali (Grade 11) -1st Place; Francesca Maxine B. Magadan (Grade 12) – 2nd Place; Adriel Roi Luiz N. Abiad (Grade 7)- 4th Place; Angela Marie A. Bausa (Grade 8)-6th Place; Stephanie Joy Noguerra (Grade 9) – 2nd Place; and Clark Cedric A. Lamprea (Grade 10)-5th Place.

Trainers in the identified contests are Ms. Yolanda M. Marinay (Impromptu Speech), Ms. Ma. Cely Janolino (Photo Essay). Ms. Neneth G. Basas and Mr. Leo Solihon (Readers’ Theatre), Ms. Annabelle G. Sulapas (Poster Making), and Mr. Beny Deck Panaligan (Oration). For the Reading Proficiency Contest, the respective trainers are Dr. Merly B. Nazareno, Ms. Lani G. De Guia, Mr. Beny Deck A. Panaligan, Ms. Neneth G. Basas, Ms. Luz C. Calimbas, and Ms. Jerose O. Aperocho. In full support to the contestants are the English Subject Group Head Dr. Merly B. Nazareno, English Department Head Dr. Amelyn Villanueva, Assistant Principal Dr. Cynthia D. Abella, and Principal Dr. Efren E. Canzana.​
